Ideas for the Elementary School

Lyle citizens have been asked to share their thoughts on what shall become of the Lyle Elementary School located in the heart of our community on the corner of Third Street and Hiway 14. It is currently owned and maintained by the Lyle School District # 406 but school administration have indicated a need to reassess the current status of its use. The Lyle Twin Bridges Historical Museum occupies one of the old schoolrooms, and the skate park and green area have been enjoyed by youth and families through many seasons.
What do you think? What would you like to see happen to this building and the park? Let's talk about it!

I think that we should work with the school district to make sure that this critical piece of property remains a community asset. A great community building would be fabulous, but even simply improving the current facilities, adding more skate park, benches, shade trees and and info kiosk would go a long way toward making our community even better

I feel this space should remain available to our community as a resource for bringing people together. In order build a strong sense of community, cultivate relationships, inspire through learning, and support healthy activities we should save this building and the park. It would be a shame to lose it. The potential is limitless. All we need are creative minds and willing hearts.

Does anyone know who has the deed to this poperty? Is it the superintendant or the state or who?

We need to know who to lobby to get the deed donated to the county or to the Lyle planning council?

The elementary school building and grounds would be a great additional place for the community to be able to use for local indoor and outdoor events. Many people at the "Horizons" meetings spoke to the idea of a centralized place to meet, to get information, to play, to get help on a regular basis-the elementary school could be the place.

I agree fully with everything suggested here. As a resident of Lyle my entire life (23 years), I attended school here and have watched it sit there and go to waste for years. I believe a place to meet, free of charge, for events such as private parties and meetings would be fantastic for the community. Basically a full-service resource center would be perfect in that location. Centrally located in town, the list of perfection could go on and on!

It would be a dream come true if this building could be revitlized as a active community center for the Sr's, the youth, for meetings, information maybe a lending libary, the Museum etc. Lets rally around and get this project off the ground!

I would like to see the school brought up to code and used in as many ways as to fit the public needs and wants. As stated before, it is centrally located and the interior is ideally sectioned to permit more than one event to be offered simultaneously. Parking of course is a stumbling block, but not a barrier that cannot be removed with deligent hard working minds unite toward a common goal. I say, let's hope for the best, expect the worst, and take what comes.
