Nice pub, nice people, good food.
Gorge residents, this should be on your list of local pubs to visit.
We went to the River Rat this past friday night (June 25, 2010) First off, the people were down to earth, and friendly. It is a small town place, with a small town feel - in a good way! We were surprised by the menu, with the not-so-run-of-the-mill burgers (I had a Jerk-a-Lulu burger), tasty sounding sandwiches and the like. They also had several beers on tap, and served pitchers at a reasonable price. Not just greasy pub grub here.
It had a great atmosphere, not too dark, not too loud- even when the live music started. I didn't catch the name of the man playing, but he had some nice guitar/vocal melodies that had a handful of couples dancing. It has a very relaxed feeling with peanuts on the tables and peanut shells on the floor.
All in all, a pretty nice place to spend an evening with some friends - you'll probably meet a few new ones on the way as well. I will definitely be back!
